Hello, my name is Steve Clark. My friend Bernice Hassan has been my CPA for, I would think, like 12 years now. And when I first met her, I was in dire straits.
I owed the IRS — I thought I owed them like $300,000. I had an accountant previously that had died on me, and he filed a return one year and said I had made a lot more money than I really had, and it was over $300,000. And the reality was I probably made $50,000 or $70,000 a year, and the IRS had come after me for that. And I got behind with them, and the next thing you know, I owed them for like five or six years. And I hired another person, and that didn't work out at all — he just took my money.
So I got with Bernice, and we went back to the year where my accountant had died, and we got it all straight with the IRS. I ended up paying them very little. And 12 years later, I don't owe them any money. I got a $12,000 tax refund this year from them.
And she's been great. I have a business with over five, six million dollars a year and over 15 employees on the average. And it's a lot of bookkeeping, a lot of paperwork, and she has a great staff. Nila and Kennedy — they've done great for me in the last couple of years.
And I can only say great things about her. She definitely knows how to negotiate with the IRS. She knows what she's doing. She knows all the ins and outs — just simple things like trying to call them on the phone. If you ever try to do that, it's not easy. She knows how to get right through to them and get right down and take care of business.
Anyway, thank you, Bernice, for all your help over the years. And to any potential customers, I hope this helps them. Thank you.
